The Lackham (Baynard) Aisle – Family Lines

The Lackham Aisle, also known as the Baynard Aisle is in the South Transept of the Church. Its been changed a number of times of the years including raising of the roof and installation of pews. The families connected with this Aisle are those who have lived or are linked to Lackham House (Now Lackham College of Agriculture) It is believed a number of them were buried in a vault beneath the chapel. The family names you will find here are mainly Baynard and Montague. We have created a family tree below. Not all of them are buried at Lacock but a number were. It shows the family line from Ralph Bluet I who is believed to have been given the land following the down fall of William II of Eu down to the last person of the family remembered in this area.

In the tree we have highlighted name with links to other pages on the website where you can discover more of their story or a mention of them in another’s biography.

We are gradually building up this area of the website as we discover more so this is a work in progress.
