The Lady Chapel – Family Lines

The Lady Chapel, which is to the left of the main chancel, is thought to date from around 1420- 1430. It is believed that there is said a vault under the Lady Chapel in which a number of the Sharrington/Talbot family were buried and indeed this whole chapel is also known as the the Talbot Chapel for that reason. To help understand the history of the Talbot or Lady Chapel and our memorials here is a family tree from William Sharrington arguably the most notable memorial in the chapel, down through the Fox Talbot family to Matilda Talbot who gave the Abbey to the National Trust. Each highlighted name provides a link to more of their story.
