Who was St Cyriac?

The story of St Cyriac, whether true or not, is based around the story of a little 3 year old boy called Cyriac and his widowed mother Julitta. It is set in the time when there was a lot of persecution of Christians by Rome under Emporer Diocletian between 284 and 385AD. She was put on trial under the governor Alexander and led away. Cyriac is said to have started crying so the governor picked him up. At which point the boy attacked him and Alexander threw him down with such force that it killed him. His mother was also put to death. It’s this story from which we gain the name of the church in Lacock.
